Lambda Data Center Article

Mayor Cunningham recently wrote a letter to the editor of the Tulsa World. We wanted to share it. This is so exciting for Chouteau Schools and the Chouteau Community!

Chouteau Mayor blesses Lambda Data Center

This is in reference to your article from Sept. 28, “Data center planned for MidAmerica Industrial Park getting no financial incentives.” As the mayor of a rural town in Oklahoma, I know it can be hard for communities like ours to get a seat at the table when it comes to major economic developments. It can be even more difficult to make sure that companies moving to towns like Chouteau truly have our best interests at heart.

The numbers speak for themselves. Lambda will, over the next 10 years, pay an estimated $500 million in local taxes, which will help strengthen the Chouteau-Mazie school district, support essential public services and infrastructure and bring lasting economic benefits to our community.

The project is also expected to create 1,000 construction jobs, a major economic boon for our local community. Just as important, however, the project will give local workers the chance to develop new skills that can open doors to future opportunities across Oklahoma. For our community, this is the kind of investment that can make a real difference for working families.

Yet, what has struck me most is how Lambda has shown up as a neighbor from day one. Their representatives and leadership spoke to officials early and often, listened to our questions, and worked with the Grand River Dam Authority and MAIP to build a project that fits.

I'm proud to have Lambda as part of Chouteau's future, and I believe our residents will feel the same as this project takes shape.

Mayor Brenda Cunningham, Chouteau
